Our goal in this Pool is to deliver sustainable income and over the last 10 years, we’ve delivered. Our equities have doubled the benchmark’s return over the last five years and our bonds have outperformed, too. We have increased our equity component from 30 per cent to 41 per cent thanks to the recent purchases of Linamar, Honda, Canadian Utilities, Canadian Natural and CVS.
We will also sell companies once they reach what we believe to be their true value. We recently sold Verizon, making a profit of nearly $9 million in just two years for an annualized return of more than 23 per cent.
